International School for Nature Conservation in Karst Areas

The 31st meeting of the International School for Nature Conservation in Karst Areas was held in Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area in May 2024. Around thirty participants from Czechia, Poland and Slovakia discussed specific issues related to protection of nature in karst areas.

Invasive species and protection of water in karst regions have been the main discussed topics of the meeting. Various approaches to management of invasive species were presented as well as necessary measures for a good water quality and long-term water quality monitoring. Participants also took part in several excursions and got familiar with the exhibition and activities of the Moravian Karst PLA visitor center – House of Nature.

The International School for Nature Conservation in Karst Areas was supported within the LIFE project One Nature that is implemented by the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of the Environment Next meeting will be hosted by Poland in 2025.
